The Pastoral Council ensures the Christ-like quality of a vibrant pastoral life at St. James Parish by engaging in annual and continuous planning that includes crafting the parish’s mission, assessing the parish’s needs within the context of changing times, and developing a Parish Pastoral Plan with a vision, goals and objectives; implementing those objectives, evaluating pro-grams, organizations and ministries, and celebrating successes. The Pastoral Council collaborates with the Parish Finance Council to achieve the vision of the Pastoral Plan by leading the parish (parishioners, staff, ministries, organizations and programs) to a fuller manifestation of the Kingdom through inviting them to own the vision and work to accomplish it. Please contact us at [email protected], or contact the council's Facilitator, Patricia Grey, at 412-741-6650.
Meet our Pastoral Council members below!
I have essentially been a life-long member of St. James Church in that I was born, baptized and catechized here. Even though professional commitments took me to various other places, in my heart, St. James Church was always my “home” church. My loving parents, Mary and Edgar Grey, had five children. My two sisters and two brothers love living on the east and west coasts. As a results-oriented leader and executive administrator, my background is in entrepreneurship, public and private education, facilitating institutional change and effectiveness, strategic planning, and community engagement. I served two terms on St. James Pastoral Council and am now serving my first term on Divine Redeemer’s first Pastoral Council. My passion inclines me to let the Spirit move through me to inspire others to grow and serve through their gifts applied through purposeful engagement. We have a great Parish! I am honored to serve with a magnificent team of pastoral leaders who are committed to serving through their gifts under the leadership of our pastor, Fr. Brian Noel, as he inspires and unites us through worship and prayer to serve God and others, and grow our Parish. To God be the glory!
I joined the parish in 2010 when my husband and I moved to Sewickley from Pittsburgh. I am married to T.J., and we have two children, Victoria (9) and Thomas (8). I attended the University of Notre Dame for my undergraduate studies, and I have graduate degrees from Duquesne and Carnegie Mellon. Recently, I completed coursework at Columbia's Teachers College. I currently work at Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh as a college counselor - it brings me great joy to work with Aquinas students and staff. I enjoy spending my free time outdoors with my family and our two-year-old beagle, Scout!
Lori practices law in the areas of Elder Law and Estate Planning. She is founder and President of the nonprofit, Elder Care Services, Inc., providing advocacy to elderly and disabled individuals. Her twin daughters, Vivian and Clotilde, are graduates of St. James School, Quaker Valley High School and up and coming graduates of Denison University. Lori’s family has been part of the Pittsburgh community for several generations, since her ancestors immigrated to America from Germany and Italy. Her father, Raymond Capone, was a POW in WWII who was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal and Oak Leaf Clusters for his service to our country. He and his wife, Vivian, are buried with military honors at Arlington Cemetery. Lori grew up in Churchill with two brothers, Raymond Capone Jr. MD and Stephen Capone, Esq. who are professionals in Pittsburgh and her sister, Barbara, now of Venice, FL.
Hello! My name is Jason Corsetti and I am honored that I was asked to serve on our pastoral council. I am originally a resident of Southern California, born and raised! My family and I came to Pittsburgh in 2009, enrolled our daughter at St. James School, and became parishioners thereafter. We currently live in Moon. I am currently employed with a supplier in the promotional products/advertising specialty industry both as their director of marketing and the vice president of our awards division. I truly love the creative nature of our industry, along with the variety and uniqueness of our distributor customers. I am also exploring a vocation to the permanent diaconate. The formation program is five years, and I am about 3 ½ years in. God willing, I would be ordained a permanent Deacon in the Spring of 2022. I look forward to connecting, talking, praying and worshipping with you!
Ruth (my wife of 53 years and counting) and I moved from Arizona to Pennsylvania with our three children, Melissa, Ivan and Lindsay in 1985, joining St. James Parish shortly thereafter. We currently have six grandchildren living in Arizona, California and Pennsylvania. Shortly after retiring from FedEx Ground in 2004 I joined Pastoral Council, was elected to Edgeworth Borough Council, and later joining Sewickley Valley Historical Society in 2018. I am excited to be part of our new combined Divine Redeemer Parish and look forward to reengaging with my fellow parishioners as the Covid crisis subsides.
I am honored that I was asked to join the Pastoral Council this year. My husband, Dave and I have been members of St. Mary's since 2005. I am a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, a former CCD teacher and have worked the fish fry for several years. We have two children, Matthew and Shannon who keep us busy. I am an Administrative Assistant at Erie Insurance for the past 37 years in the Pittsburgh Claims Office. In my spare time, I enjoy watching my kids sporting events and crafting.
My wife, Heidi and I have been married for 38 years and have lived in Chippewa Township during most of that time. We joined St James in 2014. We had gone through our own “desert journey”, searching for a friendly, community-oriented church. Experiencing some Protestant and non-denominational Bible based churches gave us a unique blessing as to how other churches view and grow their faith in God. As we became involved in the parish Fish Fry for 5 years, and getting to know many of the volunteers as true friends, we realized joining Divine Redeemer was a true blessing from God. Retiring in 2020 after many years as a CPA, real estate developer and consultant, I look forward to using the gifts God has provided me to help grow our parish in ways to enhance that community-based volunteer approach to serving God.
My name is Tim O’Malley and I am honored to have been invited to become a member of Divine Redeemer’s Parish Council. I was born and raised in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, which is where I currently reside as a parishioner of St. Mary Church. My wife Cheryl and I have four grown children and seven wonderful grandchildren. As a recently retired educator and coach with time to devote to the Church, I look forward to helping unite our parishes, improving the importance of the Church in our daily lives, and sharing the many programs that we have to offer.
Greetings! I am so excited to be part to the Divine Redeemer family and am looking forward to participating on the council. Our family moved to Pittsburgh in 2019 but I am no stranger to the parish. My wife and her family have been lifelong parishioners at St. Mary’s and I am so glad that I have also found a home here. I was a parishioner at St. John the Baptist in Silver Spring, Maryland where I played guitar in our 10:30am folk group and later at St. Mary’s in Rockville, Maryland. I am a lifelong Catholic, educated from Pre-K all the way to my Master’s Degree and am excited at the opportunity to support this great community we have here. Thank you!
Married to John, Easter will be our 9th anniversary of moving to Sewickley from the Netherlands. We have two daughters, Mary Grace and Katherine who are in 12th and 10th grade who help facilitate the middle school Edge formation program at Divine Redeemer Parish. My greatest opportunity to grow in my faith has been through teaching 2nd grade CCD at St. James since we moved here in 2013. This year I joined Nicole to help lead the middle school Edge program. I enjoy working with the church staff to support youth programs and am passionate about other efforts to communicate with our parishioners, especially during CoVid. I have served on the Pastoral Council for about two years.
My husband Ernie and I joined St. James Parish in 1983 after getting married in Cleveland, where I was born and raised. We have three children: Rachela, Joseph and Marco (deceased), as well as two granddaughters, Mila and Sophie. As my own children were growing, I was actively involved in the CCD program, Summer Bible Camp, and the development of a youth group at St. James. It is now my pleasure to serve our Parish Community of Divine Redeemer by serving on Pastoral Council, organizing the greeters, working at the fish fry during Lent, and also serve on the safety committee. I feel very blessed to be a part of such a wonderful parish family. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening and crafting.
